I just wanted to summarize what I learned from class for Week3 :D
If i made some mistakes(grammatical error, using inappropriate expression and so on),plz let me know or correct it :)
1)The difference between say/tell, speak/talk
Say/Tell
SAY: say something. A word or words have to come out through your mouth.
TELL: If you tell someone something, you give them information.
For example 'Say a story': You have to repeat verbally 'a story'
'Tell a story': tell your story to someone
Speak/Talk
SPEAK: It can be one-sided communication.
Talk: Communicate together
For example 'Can I talk to you for a minute?'-Let's talk together.
'Can I speak to you for a minute'-It can be the situation like this
: I'll tell something to you. Plz listen.
2)The words I learned from English Central Videos
- empower: If someone is empowered to do something, they have the authority or
power to do it.
To give someone ability
EX-The new president wants to empower everyone.
- inherit: To receive property or money after someone dies.
EX-The prince will inherit the kingdom after his father passes away
-shattered: to damage or destroy (산산조각 나다)
EX-All of the glass ceilings that have yet to be shattered
-twisted: to change the meaning of something(사실따위를 왜곡하다)
EX-He thinks differently from each other because he's got a twisted mind.
-Butterflies: a nervous feeling in a person's stomach
EX- He gets butterflies whenever he talks to a pretty girl
